The annual jaunt to Woodchester Park, welcoming in the Autumn, saw a slightly smaller entry from the club with just four runners making the short journey. The testing course is approximately 8 miles in lenght over woodland trails and includes a challenging climb. As ever Kevin Jackson ran well moving up one place in the overall standings from 2011, coming first in his category in yet another race. Behind him was Mark Waller also moving up one placing from last years event. Kevin increased the gap significantly between himself and Mark, in 2011 they were seperated by just a minute. Kim Bird returned after a years break finishing ahead of Zoe Johnson both having good runs over the challneging terrain.
Kevin Jackson 57:26 7th (1st MV50)
Mark Waller 60:20 12th
Kim Bird 71:53 51st
Zoe Johnson 80:23 74th |

The final weekend of the Olympics also saw Dursley Running Club Athletes busy competing in a variety of events. Saturday the 11th saw the first running of the Cranham 5, a new off road event replacing the previous road race.
The club had two entrants Graeme Hawkins and Kate Browning. Hawkins had a good run finishing in 40;27 11th overall and first V60. Browning finishing in a disappointing 29th position in 47:10 after going off course. However she was running fast enough to get back on to the course in time to direct Graeme in the right direction, thereby ensuring Dursley's representation on the V60 podium. |

Sunday saw a great turn out and performances from the club at the Standish Woodland Chase, with nine Dursley Runners making it to the line. The race is a challenging multi terrain event of almost 10 miles, run mainly on woodland trails with some road and is both hilly & scenic. Kevin Jackson led the team home, achieving a top ten placing in the process and finishing 1st in the Male Vet 50 category, improving on both time and position from his 2011 outing. Tony Wooldridge made it another category win, MV60, with a top twenty finish, coming in just ahead of Dave Wood.

Almost Athletes Devil’s Chimney Chase took place on Saturday July 14th on what proved to be in 2012 a not untypically damp summers evening. Almost 150 runners assembled on the semi waterlogged Old Patesians Rugby Club ground just before 6pm as the steady rain obligingly stopped. Alice Lewis and Dave Wood were the sole Dursley representatives with Alice a Devils Chimney Chase veteran and Dave Wood a virgin competitor to the event.

A big thank you to the twenty runners who took part in this years Cotswold Way relay. This year saw another great result for the Vets team finishing in in 6th place in 14:38:28. (only 4 mins slower than last year) and 18th overall ( out of 81), with the mixed team finishing 27th and 54th overall in 16:57:15. Thanks also go to Graeme Hawkins and John Delafield for putting the teams together, plus the support teams who manned water stations etc.. including our own John Spicer.
