Monday the 20th saw three Dursley Runners make it to the start line of the Hogweed Trot. Unusually it wasn't Chris Ashworth who turned up late for the start, but more of this later. Two of the clubs consistent age category performers, Dave Saunders and Alice Lewis, were on the start line on an extremely pleasant evening for running.

Whilst her better half enjoyed the delights of Tewkesbury Emma Denton slummed it by going to Copenhagen to do the Marathon. Starting off with a creditable first 5K in 23:34 Emma sped up over the next 5 until settling down to a steady sub 24 min pace until she got to the 30k mark. Emma’s pace then slowed to the finish dropping to 24:46 and then to 26:04 for the next two 5 K splits. Despite her pace dropping at the end Emma had a fanastic run finishing 68th female and 11th in the Kvinder 35-39 category (that would have been FV35 at Tewkesbury!) completing the course in a time of 03:24:45. |

What a great day of running for all the participants in this years London Marathon. The runners were greeted with ideal conditions, cold enough for Mo Farah to don a pair of arm warmers, the runners fashion disaster, (let the Tri-athletes wear them Mo!). 11 Dursley Runners made it to the line in this celebration of humanity’s ability to rise to a challenge and in many cases raise money for a good cause at the same time; Moira Woodward, Avril Yearsley, Mel Williams, Rebecca Topham, Laura Price, Kim Bird, Sue Peachey and 4 men - Graeme Hawkins, Neil Parry, Paul Wellings and Kevin Jackson. Some came to the race in sparkling form, others struggling through injury to get the requisite miles in.
